Classes of the Roman peoples.

 


*According to the economic and social status, the Roman people were classified into Four. Such as the Patricians, the Plebeians, the Clients, the Slaves.


01.The Patricians: The patricians were wealthy and aristocratic community of ancient Rome. They were the highest class people of the society. They enjoyed a monopoly of civil, political and religious rights. They enjoyed gigantic privileges.


02.The plebeians: The plebeians were of varied origin. They came to Rome as settlers or traders. They were deprived of all kinds of opportunities. They had no civil rights and duties. Moreover, they had no power to vote in the curiae. They were considered by the patricians as an inferior class.


03.The Clients: The word clients means subordinate or dependent. Their origin in partly to the manumission of slaves. They also didn't enjoy any kinds of right as like as plebeians.


04.The Slaves: There was a fourth class of people called servior slaves who formed no part of the state and enjoyed no rights. They were right less end & duty less people. The Roman considered them as chattels. They were purchased and sold like any other property.
