* Writ: Writ is a legal document issued by a court or other judicial authority, directing a person to do or refrain from doing a certain action. Writs can be used for various purposes, such as enforcing a judgment or protecting a person's rights. The writs were five in number. Such as Habeas corpus, Certiorari, Prohibition, Mandamus and Quo-Warranto.
1.Writ of Habeas Corpus: A writ of habeas corpus is a legal order that requires a person who is being detained or imprisoned to be brought before a court or Judge. The purpose of this writ is to protect individuals freedom.
02.Writ of Mandamus: A writ of mandamus is a court order issued by a higher court to a lower court, government agency or public official, requiring them to perform a specific action or duty that is required by law.
03.Writ of Prohibition: When a court, a tribunal, an authority or a person is about to abuse its powers or act outside its jurisdiction, the writ issued by the high court is called a writ of prohibition.
04.Writ of Certiorari: When a court or an tribunal or an authority or a person has already violated the principles of natural justice, or has abused its power or acted in excess of its jurisdiction, the writ issued by the high court to declare the act invalid is called a writ of certiorari.
05.Writ of Quo-Warranto: A writ of Quo-warranto is a legal action taken to challenge a person's right or authority to hold a particular position, office or privilege.
